Year 2 DT:: Researching appropriate materials
Our designers have been focusing on suitability of materials this week; investigating the best material to use to fulfil their design brief; to make a ship which can float.
The children looked at a range of materials: plastic, paper, cardboard and wood and produced their own fair test to see which would work best to build a ship out of. They were able to combine their scientific knowledge of properties of materials along with their designer knowledge to select the best material to begin their imagination and planning stage of their design process.
