Super scientists

Our scientists have been busy investigating the differences between seeds and bulbs and what is needed to ensure they grow healthily.

They explored the inside of a bulb; looking in detail at the tunic, scales, flower bud, roots and stem whilst exploring how different a seed is with just one embryo inside and a food store.

In class we have been very busy growing our cress, investigating and gathering data as to which is growing the tallest. The children have been using scientific language whilst investigating; quizzing each other as to what plants need to grow healthily, and if some of the leaves have turned yellow then what does the plant need more of? Their gathered data has been used to create tally charts and pictograms to read their results quicker in order to draw their conclusions. They hope to bring their cress home this week!
