At Heronshaw we enrich children’s vocabulary and immerse them into a text rich environment. We do this by providing a reflective and adaptive yearly reading spine for each year group. This features a broad range of literature which we feel provide a sustainable, imaginative, and thought-provoking text. Every day a child from each class selects one of these books to take back to their class and share; reflecting on the morals of the tale whilst enjoying a relaxing end to the day sharing the love of reading.
Diversity and inclusion is a priority at Heronshaw and over the coming months we will continue to expand our rich range of high quality texts by liaising with the children and parents. Part of our vision for reading is to ensure that the 9 protected characteristics are represented through our collection.
