This week our children began their construction of their very own fire engines! Our keen designers have been busy comparing and contrasting fire engines from the past, exploring their design features and suitability to fighting fires in present times.
Children have since designed their own fire engine and are now in the process of making their models. After considering the materials best suited to their build and considering the properties of these materials, children picked from a range of cardboard, plastic, metal, straw, pipe cleaners, lolly pop sticks amongst other resources to ensure their fire engine is fit for purpose.
Next week we learn all about wheels and make the mechanism to make the fire engines move before adding final details.
