World Book Day

World Book Day was celebrated and enjoyed by all here at Heronshaw School.

Children came to school snuggled in their pyjamas ready to share their love of reading. We had our Heronshaw Big Book Swap, which went down a treat with all the children leaving at the end of the day with a new book, which had been wrapped up with only a description of the book written on the outside.

With an array of activities to enjoy throughout the day all our children were kept busy! Starting off with a book swap assembly, children then enjoyed an author and illustrator Q&A and how to illustrate session with Pigeon Dave with Swapna Haddow and Sheena Dempsey.

In the afternoon the children had a wonderful treat with local celebrated children’s author Kirstie Watson coming in to celebrate World Book Day and read to the children before a Q&A session. There was a real buzz around the school at the end of the day that left everyone full of love for reading. We are so proud of our children celebrating our Heronshaw value of Kindness by sharing old books in the big book swap.
