SUMMARY:Year 2: Great Fire of London Day
DESCRIPTION:To celebrate the end of this project we shall have our achieve day where we invite the children to take part in a Great Fire of London Experience Day where children can dress up in attire from 1666 as well as firefighters\, past and present!   \nThis experience day will be on Wednesday 19th October 2022.  \nOn this day\, the children will have a visit from Freshwater Theatre Company\, who will hold workshops during the day to transport our children back to 1666! Mary Porter\, a resident of Pudding Lane in 1666 will work with one class at a time carrying out an interactive workshop. She will use drama activities such as roleplay and tableaux to explore the topic! This workshop gives the children a chance to explore different aspects of the fire\, such as what life was like in Pudding Lane beforehand and how the fire happened\, and deal with the aftermath. They also get to become the fire\, using ribbons and mime in a lovely movement activity!  \nIn addition to this\, we shall be experiencing some fun activities on the day\, including a virtual interview with our local firefighters in Milton Keynes and a short virtual tour of the fire station and fire engines at West Ashland fire station.   \nIn support of this event\, we are asking for a voluntary contribution of £7.50\, in line with the charging and remission fund\, which will cover the visit from the Freshwater Theatre Company. SUMMARY:Year 2 Pirate Experience
DESCRIPTION:                              \n \nAs part of our English curriculum\, in the second half of the Spring term\, children in Year 2 will be learning all they need for how to write their very own adventure narrative. The book we have chosen as our inspiration for our work is “Pirates Love Underpants”.   \nTo inspire the children and hook them into their learning we are kick starting the half term with a Pirate themed day! This experience day will be on: Tuesday 22nd February 2022  \nOn this day children are invited to come to school dressed as a pirate. We shall be experiencing some fun\, buccaneering pirate activities on the day\, whilst exploring some of our favourite stories all about Pirates.   \nIf children would like to bring their favourite pirate book from home to share with others\, they are very welcome to do so.
