Jamie Ainscow (mrainscow) on: Foundation Blog

Dear Crocodiles,

I just want to say how proud I am of all of you as you have worked so hard this week. I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing all of your wonderful photos and videos (they really put a huge smile on my face). It looks like you are having a lot of fun doing these activities from the home learning grid.

I hope you are all watching and joining in with my videos on you tube. I hope they are helping with your learning at home. Don't worry there are lots more to come after half term.

Have a lovely half term and enjoy the sunshine (hopefully it will last).

Miss all of you dearly.

Lots of Love

Jamie Ainscow (mrainscow) on: Foundation Blog

Dear Bears

This week I am sitting in my garden writing this as the sun is shining and it is so warm! As I look around at all the beautiful flowers my eyes have fallen upon the beans I planted, my how they have grown! So I thought I would send you a picture of them. What do you think?

It is hard to believe that they were seeds just a few weeks ago. I think I may have planted too many - oops!

Well next week is half term so I would like you all to relax. Send me pictures for the Blog of any exciting things you have been doing.

Take care and stay safe.

Lots and lots of love

Hello from Mrs Champion

Jamie Ainscow (mrainscow) on: Foundation Blog

Dear Bears

Hello and how are you all? It looks like you all enjoyed the VE day celebrations last weekend, I have been sent lots of photos and even a fantastic video from Shyla! I was quite jealous of all the delicious food you were eating! I made the most deliciously fruity cake from a recipe that was used by Winston Churchill ( well the lady that cooked for him!) Most of it is gone now so I will have to think of something else to cook perhaps you could give me some ideas - nice and easy though as I am not the best baker!

I do hope that you are all well.

I miss you all.

VE Day

Jamie Ainscow (mrainscow) on: Foundation Blog

Dear Bears

This Friday is a very special day it is VE day or Victory in Europe day. 75 years ago our country was at war and on Friday (75 years ago) that war was over. Below is a picture of Winston Churchill the prime minister at the time. He is waving to crowds of very happy people in London.

Our government ( the people in charge of our country) decided to have a Bank Holiday on Friday so that we could all celebrate. I will be taking time out of my day to remember all the brave men and women including my Grandad who were a vital part of that victory.

Just like today the people of Britain joined together to defeat a common enemy.

Churchill waves to crowds.jpg

Enjoy your week.

Sending you all lots of love

Part of last week's learning was to make their own bad-tempered ladybird. Here is Adele's ladybird - I love the eyes and legs.

Adele has created a beautiful squiggly pattern and painted all the different sections. This is brilliant Adele.

Adele has also done all of my phonics lessons, practising reading and writing the different Set 2/3 words.

Great work Adele!

To all foundation children

Jamie Ainscow (mrainscow) on: Foundation Blog

Dear Foundation,

I am getting so much great feedback about how much you are loving doing my phonics lessons with me every day. This really puts a huge smile on my face as you know how much I enjoy teaching you sounds.

This week there are lots more videos to watch and join in with. Again, there is a daily phonics lesson (Set 3 this week). Even if you find the Set 3 sounds a bit tricky just have a go and try your best. There is also a Math's lesson to help you with 'counting on' and another introduction to this week's activities. I hope you like my gingerbread man!

I really enjoy seeing all of your work on tapestry and can't wait to see what you all do this week. Don't forget that all us are extremely proud of you as you are working very hard.

Have a lovely week:)

Good Morning Bears!

I hope you are all well. As I look outside this morning it is raining urgh! I wonder if you remember what happened in the story 'The Cat in the Hat'? It was a rainy day in that story and someone came to visit and they made a bit of a mess! I enjoyed reading 'The cat in the Hat comes back' I do hope that you liked listening to it.

This weekend I was planting seeds in my garden, I planted beans and different types of flower. I will let you know how well they grow. I wonder if my beanstalk will grow as high as Jack's? Do you remember what happened in that story? Who was it that he met?

It is lovely to speak to you all and find out what you have been up to. Harrington has been making soap for his neighbours which is very kind. Lots of you have been drawing and colouring lovely pictures for the NHS and all our fantastic key workers who are keeping us all going at the moment. I am very proud of each and every one of you. Painting Easter eggs Amanda (Crocs)

Jamie Ainscow (mrainscow) on: Foundation Blog

Amanda shared with me a Lithuanian Easter tradition involving painting Easter eggs, They are trying to keep up these traditions and Amanda loves to participate. She used white eggs, flowers/grass/leaves from the garden, onion shells and stockings.
Amanda placed the leaves and flowers on the eggs, then put the eggs in the stockings and boiled them in the onion shells.

It is always fascinating how other countries celebrate Easter - thank you for this insight Amanda!

Mrs Champion isn't very good at social media - she is so old!.. So, I  really do love saying 'hello' to you all when I call you at home. It's ok for you just to say 'hello' because it is strange talking to your teacher, I understand.

Thank you to all the mums and dads who are sending in pictures of the hard work you are all doing. I will put some on our blog but if you want everyone to see them straight away (as this blog can be hard to find) Mr Ainscow has sent a link to Facebook and Twitter where all your fantastic work can be viewed.

Hello from Mr Ainscow (Leopards)

Jamie Ainscow (mrainscow) on: Year 1 blog

Here goes, Mr Ainscow's first ever blog entry.

Something tells me the period ahead will be a time of many firsts for everyone. I have really enjoyed talking to you all on the phone and seeing some of your amazing work. Please keep sharing pictures of your work on the school facebook page. It would be great to see some of your art projects on there.

I've been able to do things I haven't had time for since moving into our house and have finally mounted all of our Dutch houses on the wall in the study.

Take care. Mr Ainscow (no hair, haha)
