Parents and carers select the meals that they wish their child to have via the Chartwell dinner forms. The forms are sent home each half term and we suggest that forms are completed and returned promptly.
Chartwells are the school lunch providers. You can access lots of information on their website here. It also allows you to sign up for newsletters should you wish. The provider promotes healthy eating through a range of super food heroes that you can explore here.
The school dinners are free to all children in Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 as part of the government Universal Free School Meals strategy. There are a variety of options including meat, vegetarian and/or packed-lunches. Alternatively, parents sometimes wish to prepare and send their children in with a packed lunch from home. We do ask that if you are sending a packed lunch that it contains healthy options, avoiding nuts, sweets and chocolate.
At lunch times there are three sittings, one for each year group - Foundation eat at 11:30, Year 1 at 12:00 and Year 2 at 12:20. There are always staff available to serve the lunches and to support any reluctant eaters. All children are encouraged to eat as much as they can during the time allocated.
